Temptress Gown by Fantasy Lingerie REVIEW

Love It Rating:

I don’t have a body like the model of this gown, so I didn’t expect it to look the same on me. However, I figured it was reasonable to expect that would at least resemble it.

I love lingerie. It makes me feel sexy, excited, and usually less frumpy than not wearing it. But this piece pretty much made me want to tear my hair out. The sheer body was okay. Usually it’s not my thing, but I liked the look of the top so I went with it. And while the material does have a bit of a stretch to it, there is no way you can get busy with having to first bunch the entire gown up to your belly to have access. The bottom is definitely not as flowy as the picture would have me believe, and fit quite snuggly on my torso and upper hips. For sheerness and fit, it hides nothing! Second, WTF is up with top!?

The top looks so pretty on the model. Granted, my breasts are real and don’t float up over the top of my gown without something to push them up (which this definitely does not have), so I didn’t expect that kind of support. Actually, I didn’t expect any support, and that’s exactly what I got. But, I didn’t expect the weird lopsidedness it created.

Right off the bat I could tell that something wasn’t right about the fit. If I pulled the front down a bit the middle part would pucker and my whole bosom would spill out within seconds of me moving. If I pulled it up, the V at the bottom would disappear and the sides would pucker. And, within a minute of me moving, my entire bosom would spill out!

Yeah, pretty much no matter how I tried to adjust this top and the ties in the back, it did not stay in place. The constant readjusting left me frustrated and feeling less than sexy. The whole thing was an utter fail, but just in case you want to know more, read on for details:

My Fantasy gown arrived in a plastic bag, supported with a plain hanger. It came with the gown itself and a pair of panties. The panties are standard, cheap, lingerie-style g-string. There is no information on the tag to suggest what the material is, but it feels like faux satin. They feature a triangle of fabric that is seen in the front, and two elastic bands. One band goes around the waist, and the other goes from the center back to the bottom of the triangle. The stitches are secured nicely as far as craftsmanship goes.

Again, the gown had no information on the tag regarding materials. The bottom is a mesh material (maybe nylon?) that is surprisingly comfortable and flexible; able to be stretched to 1x its non-stretched state without the mesh looking distorted. It is very soft and features a rolled hem on the bottom.

The top is a double layer of soft lace with a black on black rose pattern. On both edges of the top and in the middle are 4” pieces of elastic that cause a small amount of rousing and helped to sweetheart frame my breasts a bit more than if it was left as just a tube-style top.

What draws the whole gown together is a single tie in the back that crosses just under the back of the neck and then crosses once more where it ties together. I think what makes this fit so poorly is that the ties tend to slide around and work the crosses loose. By this I mean that even though you might have it adjusted perfectly so it fits right and seems to hold my breasts in place, it just doesn’t stay in that position. I think that if there were more loops that the tie went through it would help eliminate movement. Or if there were two ties instead of one it would be more stationary. Since I don’t find this wearable as it is, I will probably try to remodel it a bit and see if adding a second tie helps at all.

(Please note that these pics are taken while I was standing very still. With any movement I would have had a wardrobe disaster!)

The sizing was fairly accurate on this piece. I went with my normal size (XL), although according to the size chart it might have been a bit small in the bust area. Instead, I found that the bodice fit quite tight. Not uncomfortably so because the material does have some 4-way stretch to it, but enough that if you don’t fall exactly in the size chart you might want to order a size up. The bust area that I had worried about ended up being almost too big rather than too small. But between the rousing and the adjustable ties in the back, you can easily make this fit breasts that are either larger or smaller than indicated in the size chart. So, order for the bodice size and don’t worry about the bust size.

The cleaning instructions are pretty easy on this piece. Just toss this in the washing machine, warm water, gentle cycle. Either line dry or put in the dryer on tumble dry. Do not twist (in case you like to twist your lingerie?). Even after washing, no shrinkage is noted.
